ELIAS - RIS Info Portal

ELIAS is a map-based web application providing static and basic status information on inland waterways. The system is making use of existing digital information from official servers, partly real time updated. Wherever possible, RIS standards have been applied.

In detail following information is gathered and free to access to any user:

  • Electronic navigational chart overlay (iENC)
  • Position of locks, bridges, gauges, bunker stations, etc.:  European RIS Index
  • Notices to Skippers (NtS): Integrated via NtS-WebService.
  • Real time water levels - provided by German waterway authorities (WSV)
  • Dynamic traffic situation: traffic density (no of vessels per section) & traffic flow (vessel speed per section)
  • Lock passage statistics (lock passage time = waiting time + lockage time

The system was developed by the Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics (ISL), Bremen.
