Watch the new video about EMMA Extension pilot results!

The newly published video highlights the EMMA Extension implementation activities to strenthen inland navigation in the Baltic Sea Region.

The newly published EMMA Extension video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gifxDL3vZuw ) presents the pilot activities that have been carried out during the project to strengthen inland navigation in the Baltic Sea Region.

The commercial IWT service pilots took place in Neman River in Lithuania and in Vistula River in Poland.  In another pilot in Poland, RIS applications support IWT digitalization in the Szczecin Region. Successful implementation of an automatic reading system for safe clearances under bridges at Odra River in Szczecin is based on a network of radar sensors and electronic information boards showing the clearance values to skippers in real time, ensuring safety. A separate video was made of this pilot and can be watched on the EMMA project’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xorTfD5xOho

In Finland, smart fairway pilot supports IWT digitalization. As a part of the EMMA Extension project, 34 smart buoys were installed in the Saimaa deep fairway, which is Finland’s most important inland waterway for commercial shipping. You can also watch a separate video on this pilot on the EMMA project’s YouTube channel to find out more about the smart fairway pilot which improves the navigability of the fairway and increases maritime safety in the Saimaa deep fairway: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rh3twF1K4J0

In Sweden, EMMA Extension pilot contributed to the development of inland waterway zones between Gothenburg and Lysekil.
