The Finnish Waterway Association was founded in 1981. The goals of the Association are promotion, development and appropriate use of waterway traffic and transport as well as its operating conditions in both the coast and inland waters of Finland.

Members of the board represent besides others The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Finland, The Finnish Transport Agency as well as companies, associations and communities, cities and municipalities.
