On December 5th and 6th 2019, the 6th the Baltic-Adriatic Corridor Forum was held in Chorzów, Poland. This is one of the few occasions in Poland for regular meetings of the stakeholders interested in the benefits of the Baltic-Adriatic Transport Corridor.
Regional and local governments, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation, transport infrastructure managers, seaports, logistics operators as well as special economic zones, and universities have an opportunity to discuss the recent issues related to the Baltic-Adriatic Corridor development.
Traditionally, the forum topics covered the main challenges related to the implementation of the corridor infrastructure in Polish regions. Also new directions in the development of the TSL (transport-forwarding-logistics) sector were discussed in the light of transport and logistics investments.
This year, the main theme of the Forum was the key role of the Silesian Voivodeship as an intermodal corridor hub, the Polish-Swedish cooperation platform for the coherent development of the Baltic-Link and Baltic-Adriatic corridors based on sea highways, as well as the opening of transport corridors towards the Black Sea.
The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodship was represented by: Sławomir Kopyść - Member of the Management Board and Vice President of the Baltic-Adriatic Association and employees of the Department of Strategic Planning and Economic Development of the Marshal's Office. During one of the sessions, the results of the EMMA project (Interreg Baltic Sea Region) were presented - a location study developed for the Bydgoszcz-Solec Kujawski multimodal platform and a promotional container cruise on the Vistula River. Representatives of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship also presented plans for further pilot cruises promoting this type of transport (within the following EMMA Extension project).
