International colloquium on IWW container transport took place in Schwedt

The 21. International Oder - Colloquium entitled “Container transport in the Oder/Havel region” was organized in co-operation with project EMMA.

The international colloquium took place in Schwedt/Oder in September and was organized by the Verein zur Förderung des Stromgebietes Oder/Havel together with the Project EMMA.

EMMA round-table discussion focused on the potential of container transports in the Baltic Sea region. Kathrin Schneider, the Minister of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning of the Land Brandenburg, discussed the bottlenecks, political willingness and the future of IWT in the Baltic Sea region, particularly in the Oder-region, with EMMA Partners from Sweden, Germany and Poland.

The colloquium was an appeal for a stronger cooperation to regional authorities, politicians, businesses and federations who and which are dealing with inland navigation sector. Stronger cooperation with stakeholders could enhance regional development as well as inland waterway transport in the region.
